Toasted Applewood Whiskey with Local Applewood

Don't let the name fool you—Toasted Applewood Whiskey isn't an apple-flavored whiskey.

We start with our corn whiskey and age it in a used 10-gallon bourbon barrel. The head of the barrel is removed, local applewood branches are toasted and added directly to the barrel, allowing the whiskey to pull character from both the oak and the toasted applewood.

The result is smoky and slightly dry rather than sweet, with layers of toasted wood and oak surrounding the subtle natural sweetness of the corn whiskey. That unusual combination has made Toasted Applewood a favorite among Scotch drinkers who visit our Sewickley, PA distillery.

Now don't let the name fool you as this whiskey offers only a very subtle sweetness from the corn whiskey. Aged in a used 10 gallon bourbon barrel, the head of the barrel is removed and local applewood branches are toasted and added to the barrel. Smokey with a hint of dryness, this has become a favorite of many a local scotch drinker.

You can distinctly pick out flavors influenced by both the Applewood and oak as the combination creates a flavor ballet of complex richness on your inner cheeks.
